March 2017 saw an array of international luxury designers showcase their collection at the prestigious Divas of Colour International Women’s festival.
One of the outstanding designers was Studio Dmaxsi with the launch of the Freedom Collection.
The freedom collection is made up of luxury sheer and lace fabrics precisely cut and perfectly sewn.
The designer, Afua Sam said;
“The Freedom Collection”
Every time I’m designing, I think about women, our body, what fits us, the variations in style and choices. I also try to tell women, don’t be afraid to be bold or different.”
“Fashion comes in all forms and for STUDIO D’MAXSI HOUSE it’s always something that makes someone turn and look and ask question. It’s either the fabric texture, colour or combination of different fabrics in one dress”. She added.
Explaining the collection, she said, “When I was designing this I called it “The Freedom Collection”
For 2 reasons;
– The freedom to express my artistic abilities not only in America but across boarders.
– Everything that was happening about immigration at the time that I have to travel, I didn’t know how people will treat me because I’m American. I’m an immigrant who came to America and because of fashion and the opportunities, it changed my life So it was only right to give it that name.”
